After photography training in Switzerland, giving him excellent bases in all the facets of the profession, Matthieu Spohn went on to perfect his art in various big cities.
After finishing his studies, grants allowed him opportunities to go abroad. First he spent a few months in New York, working on his own projects as well as assisting several photographers. He then went on to Paris for two years and to Brussels for a period of six months.
He returned to Switzerland in 2001, a return to his origins which didn't stop him from projecting himself outward. In 2003, commissions took him travelling to Warsaw, Barcelona, London, Tampa, Florida and even Buenos Aires.
A plethora of subjects have been captured by his lens : nudes, portraits, still lifes, beauty, fashion and lifestyle topics.
Matthieu Spohn makes use of all the spaces that bring him inspiration. These fields of action are plural, whether they are abandoned warehouses, a variety of exteriors, or the more traditional studio.
Today one simply has to stop by his own studio in Switzerland to take in the richness of his work. Here, the young photographer imagines, elaborates, and creates images for different Swiss and foreign clients. |
